Robert Geisler, the chief of police, said six people have been arrested since officers started targeted patrols and charged with driving while intoxicated, while nine people have been arrested since the beginning of the month, Geisler said.
Through a grant from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the city launched a campaign reminding drivers to "drive sober or get pulled over." From 2017-2021, there were more than 4,500 people killed in alcohol impaired driving crashes in December, according to the NHTSA.
